DEMCON came into being in 1993 as a University of Twente spin-off and
maintains close ties with the university to this day. DEMCON was co-founder of
the Mechatronics Valley Twente Foundation, which was established to stimulate
the development of mechatronics in Twente. This is primarily done by funding the
Mechatronic Design chair at the university and also by organizing an annual
conference (TValley), encouraging collaboration between (member) companies, and
through business development.
