Demcon develops optomechatronic systems for the semiconductor industry, space travel and other high-tech markets. Demcon possesses unique knowledge in the field of optical systems and precision inspection. Bundling of this knowledge with the expertise in mechatronics and vision enables the design, realisation and integration of high-grade optomechatronic systems.
The combination of the practical application of optical principles and our thorough knowledge of optoelectronics, signal analysis and optomechanics results in perfectly-working optomechatronic modules and systems. Examples from the semiconductor industry include alignment and level sensors, lenses/optics for laser-based manufacturing and complete lithography systems. For satellite communications, the applications include optical communication and instrumentation.
Demcon has built up extensive experience with laser-based systems for measuring instruments and processing machinery. The often complex ‘beam delivery’ demands precise positioning, down to nanometer levels. The use of dedicated lasers, advanced 2D and 3D measurement techniques (such as OCT, Optical Coherence Tomography) and adaptive optics determines the final result. In this, Demcon knows how to realize the optimum signal-to-noise ratio or the maximum processing result. Besides the hardware, Demcon has full command of the software, from advanced vision algorithms and artificial intelligence modules to highly dynamic control systems.
Demcon also takes care of the manufacturing and assembly of high-accuracy optics in small runs. Development and construction of the alignment and qualification systems needed for this take place in-house. This allows Demcon to cover the entire realization process: from design to manufacturing, from assembly and integration to test and qualification. This wide range of competencies qualifies Demcon to deliver total optomechatronic solutions.
Measuring system for freeform optics
Demcon has developed a measuring system for freeform optics together with DUI (part of the Demcon group). This development is based on the technology of TNO and has been further developed into an industrial and modern version, the NMF600 S. With these measuring systems the production of freeform optics can be controlled and improved. Applications of freeform optics can be found in lithography, aerospace and astronomy, but also in smartphones and microscopes. This includes mirrors and lenses that must be manufactured with nanometer accuracy.
